Health-Engagement Online Open Lab: Ultra-Processed Food and Its Impact on IBD Care

The miGut-Health project, in collaboration with the International Federation of Crohn’s & Ulcerative Colitis Associations (IFCCA), is organising an upcoming Open Lab dedicated to exploring the role of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Taking place online on 23 March 2026 (19:00–20:30 CET), the interactive workshop will bring together researchers, clinicians, patient representatives, and people living with IBD. The session will focus on how dietary patterns, particularly the consumption of ultra-processed foods, may influence disease development and progression.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear from leading experts, including Professor Johan Burisch (University of Southern Denmark, Odense University Hospital), Dr. Dilara Usta (Danish Cohort Study “Stress, Eating Habits, and IBD”), and Professor Guendalina Graffigna (Catholic University of Milan). The speakers will share insights ranging from clinical perspectives on IBD to research on eating behaviours and patient engagement.

The Open Lab aims to foster meaningful exchange between science and lived experience, contributing to more patient-centred and personalised approaches to IBD care.

Registration is open to all interested participants. Register here: https://www.ifcca-ibd.org/events/ultra-processed-food-workshop
